Attendance Policy

Consistent school attendance is essential to the academic success of your child.  Our goal at Dolores Street is for each child to have no more than 7 absences for the school year.  We are aiming for 96% in-seat attendance.  Last year we fell short of the District’s expected average.  High performing schools in our area have high attendance rates.  It goes together.  Our attendance must improve.

The following steps will be taken to ensure that your child attends the maximum number of days:

  1. Each parent must have a copy of the Dolores Attendance Policy and Compensatory Attendance Laws and acknowledge receiving it with a signature.
  2. Teachers will daily report students absences.
  3. Parent will receive telephone calls when their child is absent.
  4. Various attendance incentives will be given throughout the year.
  5. When there are excessive absences, progressive warning letters will be sent home to the parents.
  6. Parents Conferences made with the Principal and District Attendance Personnel
  7. All extended absences (5 or more consecutive days) will be investigated.
